Anamnesis (4/4) - The Temple

video upload by Hélène Vogelsinge

Follow-up to Anamnesis (4/4) - The Lake

"Anamnesis (3/4)

The Temple ⛪

At the top of the village stands the church, one of the remnants that has been most spared by time. Built in the 11th century, it is made of heavy stones. Within these stones, centuries of history have accumulated.

Centuries of faith and hope; the sustenance of the pilgrim; those that propel forward but do not eliminate obstacles and do not offer a definitive abode.

Although devastated, the village is not part of the past,
and there are still a few lineages to bear witness to its
past existence. The descendants of the last farmer live
among the ruins, and we can still hear the sound of life
in the distance.

Anamnesis is a 4-episode series which
immerses us in an ancestral story.
A story about a village and its inhabitants.
A story of resistance and its inescapable faith.

‘All ideas about the past, the present and the
future were shaped and made meaningful by
beliefs and expectations related to the End Times.

The final battle between good and evil and
the down of a new, divine order to death,
divine judgment and eternal afterlife’.

Sending you much Light
✨✨✨
🙏🙏🙏

« And now these three remain: faith, hope
and love. But the greatest of these is love. »

Anamnesis (4/4) - The Lake

video upload by Hélène Vogelsinger

"A n a m n e s i s ( 4 / 4 )

The Lake

The creation of the lake, 73 years earlier,
led to the flooding of the agricultural land
of the village's inhabitants.

Thus pushing them to leave their home,
where many generations have succeeded
one another since the twelfth century.

The resistance fighters were expropriated;
sealing the fate of these centuries of history.

Although devastated, the village is not part of the past,
and there are still a few lineages to bear witness to its
past existence. The descendants of the last farmer live
among the ruins, and we can still hear the sound of life
in the distance.

Dual 0-CTRL Sequencing

video upload by MAKEN0ISE

"Let’s try a little dual 0-CTRL sequencing! Since the 0-CTRL is highly oriented around the possibilities of self-patching, it could be fun to extend some of the self-patching ideas to two 0-CTRLs working together. Self-other patching? Or better yet, friend patching!!

"An abandoned modular session. In a famous small village, in the south west of France, there is a little mountain. At the top of it, what used to be a cableway station for 60 years, have been still standing there, in the hands of Entropy, for more than two decades now.

The abandoned sessions in Nature are always the most challenging, but also the most transformative. The path that leads to the chosen place is often long, steep, and lined with many obstacles.

Climbing this mountain, In the full darkness of the middle of the night, with only headlamps, and all our distorted senses, as only indicators, quickly becomes a type of active meditation, especially on the session day, with our heavy equipment.

And finally, you start to distinguish the contours of the huge station’s antenna, getting bigger and bigger, as we move on, meter by meter on the last hundred ones.

When we arrive, the connection is immediate. There is nothing comparable to this precise sensation. The surrounding sounds blend together, compose these familiar but unique melodies, in a calm and quiet mind, ready to receive.

Patch Notes:

In this session, the combo XPO + QPAS is at the heart of the patch, omnipresent.

The multi-dimensional aspect of these two modules truly resonates with the multi-dimensional experience I live through my process, and in these post human places.

In this patch, I use the XPO’s Pulse Width modulation and wave-folding stereo outputs, as well as the triangle wave one. The signals are then multiplied and sent through different filters and effects, QPAS being one important of them, here using its Low Pass and Smile Pass outputs. The different parameters are modulated by Wogglebug + hands.

This combo is accompanied, among others, by extra MN family’s members; Strega, STO(x3), DPO, Optomix, Morphagene, Maths, Mimeophon, Erbe Verb."

The Cableway Station

"Entreaty" ; behind the session

An immersive experience into my creative process.
A spiritual & musical pilgrimage on a mountain,
in the south west of France.

For those you've been following me for the last years,
you know i've been working around and refining a
special creative process.

The different steps of my creative process are ;

1. The Research of the Place
2. The First Exploration
3. The Retranscription
4. Layers of Perception (session day)
5. Sharing the Experience.

In this mini documentary, step 2 "The First Exploration",
and 4 "Layers of Perception (session day)" are mixed together.
The ascension on the session day was so challenging
physically & mentally, that we couldn't record a lot during it.
We are a small 2 people team 👥

It is an excerpt of a longer documentary that will explore
all the steps of my process, coming in 2023.

I hope you will enjoy the journey with us .

Hélène Vogelsinger: "Whales Patch"

video upload by MAKEN0ISE

"We are proud to share Hélène Vogelsinger's "Whales Patch," her contribution to Sarah Belle Reid's Imaginative Listening Project.

The Imaginative Listening Project was an experimental collaboration between Sarah Belle Reid, Hainbach, Hélène Vogelsinger, and Tim Held in which they co-created a new piece of music. It premiered on April 29, 2021 on Sarah's YouTube channel and has been a favorite of ours since.

Each artist utilized Strega in their composition, and its unique character and voicing shines throughout the project. [see below for the complete Imaginative Listening Project video]

To purchase the project on Bandcamp (and support Girls Rock Camp Alliance), head to: https://sarahbellereid.bandcamp.com/a...

Morphagene as a Stepping Stone of the Creative Process

video by MAKEN0ISE

"In this video, Hélène Vogelsinger uses the Morphagene in combination with her voice to create the foundation of a whole piece.

She starts with a simple rhythmic and tonal vocal pattern, that then evolves into deep and grainy textures.

From the Earth to the entire Universe.

Patch Notes: Hélène Vogelsinger

video by FACTmagazine
"As part of the practice behind Hélène Vogelsinger‘s modular synth compositions, the French singer and sound designer explores abandoned places and connects with their energies to create immersive and suspended moments. “I love the fact that they have layers of stories and histories, with different occupants, often crossing times, and always full of beautiful and melancholic poetry,” she says.

Prior to this episode of Patch Notes, Vogelsinger went on a 800km trip to visit an abandoned cloister, where she took pictures, videos and recorded soundscapes. She then came back to her studio and started to create the musical foundations based on what she experienced during that day. “I always compose my main sequences and record the vocals and instruments upstream,” she says. “It is the first phase of creation.”

A few weeks later, Vogelsinger returned to record the finished piece, but the building wasn’t accessible. But on her way back home, in the south of France, she came across an abandoned castle, “an improbable apparition”, in the middle of an industrial zone. “With Chalisk, who films all my sessions, we were amazed and shocked at the same time,” she says. “We were amazed by this place’s aura and energy and shocked by the way it has been ransacked.”

Although the piece wasn’t recorded for the space, the castle’s own history (the family who lived there helped refugees who fled war) and aura made it suitable for the session.

“The installation and the recording session are always a process within the process, which takes a few hours. Technically it requires a good organisation: three modular cases and hundred of cables, a generator, a camera, lights and again so many cables,” she says. “It is something really intense, especially in those types of abandoned places, where you have to avoid a lot of obstacles.”

Vogelsinger’s latest album, Contemplation, is available now on Modularfield: https://helenevogelsinger.bandcamp.co...
